Can Huckabee Destroy GOP?

"Every four years, Republicans trot out {the Judas goat} a conservative façade during an election season for the purpose of obtaining the votes of susceptible Christians. And every four years, conservative Christians ... like starving catfish ... take the bait: hook, line, and sinker." ~by Chuck Baldwin

Jimmy Carter was a Southern Baptist. Bill Clinton was a Southern Baptist. Why not let Republicans try a Southern Baptist: Mike Huckabee?"

Why not? Because Huckabee cannot and will not differentiate his religion from his political agenda. This is also true of Barack Obama, whose "Liberation Theology" espouses Marxism in the guise of Christianity. But whereas Obama is subtle and devious, hiding from voters the true far-left agenda of his religion, Huckabee cannot keep his mouth shut about his desire to advance his religious interests, even if it means using the United States Government to do so.

The real issue is not that Huckabee's record is soft on abortion wrongs, as Chuck Baldwin complains. Neither is it Huckabee's liberal record regarding taxes and illegal immigration, praised by liberal Time Magazine and given awards by the leftist AARP. Neither is it his lack of judgment in releasing convicted rapist Wayne Dumond. Huckabee had doubts about Dumond's guilt and felt sorry for him. Once released, Dumond promptly raped and murdered another woman.

None of Huckabee's horrible past record is the real reason he cannot get elected President. The fundamental problem is Americans don't want their President proselytizing his religion. Huckabee is far too partisan about his religion to be elected. He has stated, "Politics are totally directed by worldview. That's why when people say, 'We ought to separate politics from religion,' I say to separate the two is absolutely impossible". Americans understand this. But they also understand that Huckabee is catering to bigotry and to his fellow religionist's hatred of Mormonism or any other faith they don't agree with. Maybe Iowa will prefer bigotry and hate, but Americans in general will prefer Democrats.

Huckabee is not a statesman who can accept everyone and unite all. He is an over-zealous zealot for a particular religious viewpoint. He is not even a Southern Baptist layman who can step back and feel a bit of humility in a very wide world. He is an extremely pushy crusader for his religion ... an extremist in the eyes of most Americans.

If Republicans nominate him, they will suffer their worse defeat ever.

In the last debate Huckabee was asked: "What would Jesus do?" His answer was that Jesus would not be running for political office. Then why is Huckabee running? He should drop out of the Republican race. The Republican Party desperately needs to find brilliant, heroic, moral and wise candidates ... not ministers who can't see the need to keep rapists in jail or preachers who can't trust God enough to get themselves out of the way.

In his revelation for the 21st Century, A Course in Miracles, Jesus Christ speaks of the unhealed healer:

The extent of the teacher of God's faithfulness is the measure of his advancement in the curriculum. Does he still select some aspects of his life to bring to his learning, while keeping others apart? If so, his advancement is limited, and his trust not yet firmly established. Faithfulness is the teacher of God's trust in the Word of God to set all things right; not some, but all. Generally, his faithfulness begins by resting on just some problems, remaining carefully limited for a time. To give up all problems to one Answer is to reverse the thinking of the world entirely. And that alone is faithfulness. Nothing but that really deserves the name. Yet each degree, however small, is worth achieving. Readiness, as the text notes, is not mastery.
