Intolerance Toward Mitt Romney's Faith: Ego Possession?

News alert: Saturday, August 11, 2007

AMES, Iowa -- An Iowa Christian group is circulating flyers at today's straw poll urging people not to vote for Mitt Romney, the strong favorite in today's straw poll ... because he is a Mormon.

"We strongly believe that Jesus Christ, if he were alive in the flesh in this time and voted, would NEVER vote for Mitt Romney under any circumstances," the flyer says. "Mitt Romney represents Mormonism which is counterfeit Christianity, a cult."

Ignoring the fact that Christianity itself was once a cult....

So much for the Christian virtues of tolerance, understanding, forgiveness and open-mindedness.

One thing we can know for sure: if Jesus Christ were alive and voting, he would never vote for Mormon-hating so-called "Christians." He would probably say, "Whoever is without misunderstanding of My teaching, let him cast the first anti-Romney vote!"

True Christians, those who live with love and respect in their hearts and souls, those who have learned that Jesus Christ works in and through all reverent people who turn to Him and ask for help in His name, will hopefully say, "Wait a minute! This anti-Mormon propaganda and anti-Mormon campaign is un-Christian and I'm not going to let these unforgiving "Christians" get away with it. I'm voting for Mitt Romney!

The anti-Mormon campaign is more than political dirty tricks. It is ego-possession or, as it is called in ancient language, demon-possession. Our spiritual preparation device given by Jesus Christ for the 21st Century, A Course in Miracles, says this about the true teacher of God:

God's teachers do not judge. To judge is to be dishonest, for to judge is to assume a position you do not have. Judgment without self-deception is impossible. Judgment implies that you have been deceived in your brothers. How, then, could you not have been deceived in yourself? Judgment implies a lack of trust, and trust remains the bedrock of the teacher of God's whole thought system. Let this be lost, and all his learning goes. Without judgment are all things equally acceptable, for who could judge otherwise? Without judgment are all men brothers, for who is there who stands apart? Judgment destroys honesty and shatters trust. No teacher of God can judge and hope to learn.

I think the anti-Mormon campaign has more to do with them hating blacks and gays. If Mormons can get with it a bit in those 2 areas, I might change my views.

Hi Chandira!

I live among Mormons in Utah and I know of no hatred of blacks and gays. Where did you get such a strange idea? Watch the broadcasts of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. There are both blacks and gays in the Choir.

But anyway, you don't want to choose hatred toward Mormons because somewhere you got the idea that they hate. It's all about YOU. If YOU hate, then you are the one suffering.

Chandira, You are wrong on the thing about mormons hating blacks and gays. In their history blacks were not allowed to hold the priesthood because in the "spirit life" before this earthly life they refused to take sides in the battle between the brothers, Jesus and Satin. After the NWACP was formed their prophet had a vision that changed that. And many many LDS are gay. They do not approve of it, but they do not hate gay people. The real differences in mormonism lie in the beliefs of who Jesus was and their ability to become gods by doing their temple work and leading good lives. Jesus to them was not born of a virgin. He was conceived by a physical act between Elohim and Mary, and he didn't die on the cross for your sins, but atoned for his sins in the Garden of Gethsemane. I was LDS for 32 years. My heritage goes back to Joseph Smith and the beginning. I love my LDS family and friends, they are decieved, but MOST are great people.
