The New York Times is revving up its campaign against Giuliani and in favor of Hillary ... not because either would be a good President, not even because Hillary started life as a Republican and became a Democrat while Giuliani was always a Democrat until he flipped to call himself "Republican." Rather it's simply a law of physics. If two forces pull in the same direction, the most consistent exerts influence on everything around it, and determines the outcome.
Despite Pat Robertson's lame assertions to the contrary, a New York "conservative" is not conservative by anyone else's standards. Hillary proudly admits she is a liberal and is therefore more consistent. Anyone who likes liberal ideas and liberal programs will hold Hillary in mind as more heroic than Giuliani. No one says, "I'm only a half-baked liberal, so my hero is the half-baked liberal candidate."
Not that Hillary is heroic in the old-fashioned sense. A good psychiatrist would say she is more the anti-hero, driven by immense greed for power and a consuming need for vengeance against those she perceives as "enemies." It would be dangerous to work for her, lest one makes a slip of the tongue.
Underneath Hillary's projected image, a psychiatrist would say, is a scared little girl who feels she has "trapped herself into a corner," so to speak, and trembles with nightmares about having no way to escape as dark forces threaten.
Hillary is wholly unfit to be president of anything, a truly competent psychiatrist (not a Democratic hack) would tell you.
On the other hand, contrast Hillary's pathetic facade with Giuliani's consistent need to be mistake-prone, to appear sometimes silly and sometimes duped in his decision making. Hillary would say Giuliani is too foolishly trusting. With all the power of the liberal empire backing her, endless ads will be run of Giuliani cross-dressing, of Giuliani sticking up for his buddy Bernard Kerik, of Giuliani admitting he has screwed up all his previous marriages and his current marriage is still in an early stage. One wonders how much Pat Robertson was paid off to endorse him. Hillary's cruel drive for power will tsunami Giuliani's buffoonism.
Of course the American people lose either way. Other than pushing sex in public schools, killing babies that result, and making life easy for criminals ... there isn't much liberal about the so-called "liberalism" of the 20th Century, which politically speaking should properly be called "Marxist Masturbation." The liberal empire of the 20th Century has peaked and shown itself to be a miserable failure, and as with all exhausted empires it is now producing the shoddiest brood of potential leaders the country has ever seen.
A Hillary-Giuliani campaign? If you're a psychiatrist, you'll love it. If you're an everyday American, you'll pray for some kind of miracle.

Personally, I like Giuliani. He has a very federalist approach: he thinks most things should be left up to the states. That is the way the Constitution was written, and I applaud it.
I know the main issue you're worried about is, of course, abortion. But I think if you backed Giuliani into a corner he would tell you he thinks Roe v. Wade is a bad decision. If it gets overturned, sure, he would be in favor of abortion rights, but it would be left up to the states--and at least half of them would outlaw it, I would wager.
As long as it's not overturned, then the candidate's stance on the issue is completely irrelevant. I'd personally rather see John McCain in office, but I don't think he's necessarily electable. Giuliani is the definition of electable.
